Peer Review Process

Marhama: Journal of Multicultural and Social Islamic Education applies a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic integrity, and relevance of every manuscript submitted for publication.

1. Initial Manuscript Screening
   All submitted manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team to assess their compliance with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, academic writing standards, and ethical requirements. Manuscripts may also be checked for plagiarism and excessive similarity. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at this stage.
2. Editorial Assessment
   Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor to determine their academic relevance, originality, methodological appropriateness, and potential contribution to the field of multicultural and social Islamic education.
3. Peer Review
   Manuscripts that meet the editorial requirements are sent to at least two independent reviewers who have relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Reviewers independently assess the manuscript based on its originality, theoretical framework, research methodology, analysis, discussion, conclusions, references, and overall academic contribution.
4. Reviewer Recommendations
   Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts. The possible recommendations are:
   • Accept without revision
   • Accept with minor revisions
   • Major revisions required
   • Reject
5. Revision by Authors
   When revisions are required, authors must revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments and provide a response to each comment. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
6. Editorial Decision
   The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned editor after considering the reviewers’ recommendations, the quality of the revisions, and the manuscript’s suitability for the journal. Editorial decisions are made independently and are based on academic quality and relevance.
7. Final Editing and Publication
   Accepted manuscripts undergo final editorial and technical editing before publication. The editorial team ensures that the manuscript meets the journal's formatting, language, citation, and publication standards.
8. Review Duration
   The journal aims to complete the peer-review process in a timely manner. However, the duration may vary depending on the availability of qualified reviewers, the complexity of the manuscript, and the number of revisions required.

Confidentiality and Ethical Standards

All manuscripts submitted to Marhama: Journal of Multicultural and Social Islamic Education are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and provide objective and constructive evaluations. Reviewers must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional purposes.
